Barbara Ann Perry, PhD

My approach to helping clients is based on the assumption that people can and will make the right decisions for themselves if they are able to focus constructively on their options.  The assistance I provide is based on increasing one's awareness of options, developing personal and social resources to manage one's emotional life, and increasing one's overall sense of psychological well-being as an individual and within social relationships.

My work with clients tends to be short-term (4-20 sessions), goal-oriented counseling; we work together to assess the nature and extent of problems and to determine an appropriate course of therapy.

I am actively involved in several professional organizations through which I gain new information about individual, family, and marital therapy.  I am also a participant in a nationally-based special interest group whose focus is research in couples assessment and therapy.  In addition, I participate in professional workshops and institutes to ensure that I am up-to-date on current practices in the field of psychology.  As  a Licensed Psychologist (#1174) I meet the continuing education requirements mandated by the Oregon State Board of Psychologist Examiners, and I subscribe to the codes of ethical conduct ot the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, the Oregon Psychological Association/American Psychological Association, and the Association for Behavior & Cognitive Therapies.

Please see my web page for more information regarding my background and training - www.perry-psych.com.

I am in my office Wednesdays, Thursday, and Fridays, normally from
10 a.m. to 6 p.m., but I can return phone calls on Mondays and Tuesdays as well.  I prefer not to exchange information via email other than getting a request to call someone, or in some instances, to change an appointment time, since the internet is not necessarily a confidential method of communication.

The best way to reach me is to call my office number - 541 484-2117 - and leave a message for me to contact you and giving me several possible times during which I might reach you.
